Studio
A design company that begins with software.
NC JoNi Koi — NCJK in short — designs, builds and keeps its own products. Software is where we prove our standards first. It is our first medium, not our boundary.
The name
The name came first. Its meaning grew with the work.
- NC
- Narrative Chapter
- A life is a continuing story. A good product can be one chapter in it.
- JoNi
- from Joy
- Joy, then Joi, then JoNi. The capital N is part of the name.
- Koi
- 恋
- Anticipation, longing, the feeling of something worth remembering.
Open Continuity
Connected, but never closed.
Our symbol is a single movement that does not return to where it began. It carries the last context forward and stays open to what comes next.
- Narrative
- Separate scenes can belong to one story.
- Continuity
- No closed centre, no full stop.
- Restraint
- Defined as much by the space it leaves as by the line.
Primary symbol of NC JoNi Koi.
Vision
To become a defining design brand of its era.
Products, systems and ways of designing that are worth studying because they stay useful, desirable and influential for a long time.
Where we are
- Founder-led and independent. NC JoNi Koi is not yet incorporated.
- One active product: CollectionEve, live on the web.
- New products are shown here when they are real, not before.
- No advertising, and your data is never the product.
